Day 1 Scientific Method/Pure vs applied science

On the 1st day of class you discussed the scientific method and learned what makes a good experiment and a bad experiment. You also learned the difference between pure science and applied science.

Discuss these concepts and provide an example of pure science and applied science.

I love this site, it destroys the competition with it's precision and hard-hitting articles. There is nothing better on the web!

The Scientific Method is the quintessential motive of reasoning in our world where our global affairs are so impressionistic in the daily minds of the youth of the nation.

Pure science would be discovering and learning about a type of cancer, while applied science would be taking that knowledge and finding a cure for that cancer

pure science is learning about fault lines and earthquakes while applied science is developing a device to predict when/where these earthquakes will occur

Pure science is gathering new knowledge and experimenting in order to gain more knowledge.

Applied Science is experimenting and researching in order to produce something that effects humanity.

Discovering a new DNA molecule is an example of pure science and useing that knowledge to from a new drug is an example of applied science.

Applied science is the exact science of applying knowledge from one or more natural scientific fields to practical problems.

Pure science is dependent upon deductions from demonstrated truths, or is studied without regard to practical applications.

applied science: engineering

pure science: studying the constellations & space

Pure science is figuring out that the planets revolved around the sun.

And applied science would be making a model to help other people figure out how it works.

pure science works with natural things such as tornadoes, atoms, and flooding but applied science creates devices to read or look at those things such as atoms and a microscope to look at them and the eye of the tornado, getting cameras to go in there and see what is happening and what people could do to possibly fix it.

pure science is the guy who figured out that magets dont come from raw meat

and that was applied by people making seels to keep out the flys.

Discovering the Aids virus is Pure science and applying it would be making drugs for it.

Since engineers are awesome, they are applied science people. They actually do something with their life... Pure science is duller and is like observing rats and other boring things like that that induce a higher suicide rate.

Pure Science is learning about the facts and reasons that something is made up of.
Applied Science is taking that information and using it to discover something new through the use of technology.

For Example...
Pure Science is leaning about DNA and all of its functions and how from generation to generation important hereditary information is passed on.
Applied Science is taking that information about DNA and using that to predict what a being will look like and diseases that could become a problem that were passed on. Therefore, with the use of technology researchers could try to find a solution to prevent the problematic diseases.
